Opportunity Christian Fellowship is a Free Methodist congregation
serving the Spokane Valley
region.
Our History
Opportunity Christian Fellowship, originally Opportunity
Free Methodist Church, held it's first worship service in July 1959.
- Rev. Christopher Bullock 1959-1968
Pastor Bullock planted Opportunity
Free Methodist Church. For several years the church met in the extended garage
of the parsonage, where the Klothes Kloset is
now.
- Rev. James Brady 1969-1971
- Rev. Kirby Bertholf 1972-1980
Kirby Bertholf was the pastor when my
family first visited Opportunity Free Methodist in the early seventies. In
1980 Pastor Bertholf moved to Post Falls, Idaho to help plant Crossroads Free
Methodist Church (Now Light and Life Christian Fellowship). He was also
instrumental in planting New Hope Christian Fellowship in Otis Orchards and
then the New Heights Christian Fellowship in Boise,
Idaho.
- Rev. John Baker 1980-1986
Pastor Baker encouraged the beginning of the
Klothes Kloset
ministry.
- Rev. Matt Thomas 1986-1990
Pastor Thomas left OCF for the Phillipine's
mission field. He returned to Spokane and worked with Pastor Ike Timm to plant
Timberview Christian Fellowship in North Spokane. Matt was elected into
the position of Bishop of the Free Methodist Denomination in
2007.
